University researchers have invented a technology that allows a still camera or small number of moving cameras to provide the experience of an infinite number of fixed cameras. This technology allows for the real-time reconstruction of a virtual fly-through of an environment even with limited camera coverage. The applications for this technology are in surveillance, emergency response, real estate, and tourism, among others.
