Description: Inventors
at UCSD have invented a system to extract 3D geometrical
structure of a scene and generate a novel view simultaneously
at exactly the user's specified viewpoint. The invention
also enables smooth virtual walkthroughs at a remote
scene with a distributed computational framework. With
this invention, the camera configuration can be arbitrary
and with a wide baseline.
This inventions has the following benefits
1) More efficient extraction of 3D data
2) Allows dynamic walkthroughs in realtime
3) Geometric validity
and can be applied to
1) Virtual tours
2) Entertainment
3) Surveillance
