| April Kilburn licenses inventions and discoveries
related to the life sciences, specializing in technologies
from the biotech, and bionanotech fields. In addition
to licensing, April provides information to faculty, staff,
and the community regarding intellectual property issues
and opportunities; she also provides IP investment analysis
and manages aspects of marketing for those potential opportunities. |

Prior to joining the Tech TIPS staff in March 2004,
April was a Licensing Associate at the University of
Texas, Austin where she managed, marketed, and licensed
a life sciences portfolio to technology start up companies
as well as established biotechology and pharmaceutical companies.
|
April has an A.B. in Biology from Washington University
in St. Louis, and a Ph.D. from the Biochemistry Department,
in the Cell and Molecular Biology Program, from Baylor
College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She was an NIH
Postdoctoral Fellow for two years in mouse developmental
biology. In addition, April is a registered patent agent
with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

| While in Austin, April served on the Greater Austin
Chamber of Commerce Bioscience Committee and Subcommittee
on University to Industry Technology Transfer from UT
to the community. Additionally, she was a member of UT
Austin’s Technology Commercialization Task Force.
April is a member of professional licensing and technology
management organizations. In her spare time, April co-developed
and taught an informal course which focuses on mastering
US history and skills necessary to take the US citizenship
test. |
